Cristiano Ronaldo scores five goals in Al Ittihad match
Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals in the Al Ittihad match on Sunday, setting a new record for the most goals scored in one game by any player in history.
The Portuguese superstar, who is currently playing for Manchester United, had been in excellent form recently and was expected to score heavily against his former club, which he left in 2018.
But Ronaldo did not disappoint, scoring three goals in the first half alone, with two more coming in the second half. His fifth goal came in extra time as Al Ittihad won the match 5-4 on penalties after the game ended in a draw at full-time.
Ronaldo's performance was a reminder of why he is considered one of the greatest players of all time. He showed incredible skill and pace, as well as a determination to score whenever possible.
His hat-trick also broke a record that had stood since June 1996 when Brazilian legend Pele scored four goals in a single World Cup match for Brazil.
Al Ittihad coach,Bundesliga Tracking Jorge Jesus, said that Ronaldo's performance was "unbelievable" and praised him for his "brilliance".
"It was a great performance from Cristiano," Jesus said. "He showed his quality, his speed, his power, and his ability to score goals."
For Ronaldo, it was just another achievement in a career that has already seen him win numerous individual awards and help his teams achieve success on multiple occasions.
It will be interesting to see how Ronaldo performs in future matches, but his record-breaking performance in the Al Ittihad match was certainly a highlight of the weekend.
